Drunk Driver Nabbed After Swerving Into Oncoming Lane In Westchester: Police

A 57-year-old Connecticut man faces drunk driving charges after swerving into the oncoming lane on a busy road in Northern Westchester, police announced.

Fairfield County resident Dwan Christopher Alexander was arrested on Saturday, March 30 after he was caught driving while intoxicated on Route 118 in Yorktown, Yorktown Police announced on Wednesday, April 3. 

According to the department, just before 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to the area of Route 35 for a reported drunk driver seen swerving in the roadway and entering the opposing lane of traffic several times. 

After searching the area, an officer found the vehicle matching the provided description on Route 118 and witnessed it cross the double yellow lines into the opposite lane at least two times, police said.

The officer then pulled the vehicle over and conducted an investigation, which determined the driver, Alexander, had an open container of alcohol in the car and was intoxicated, according to authorities.

Alexander was then arrested and taken to police headquarters, where it was found that he had been driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent or more, police said.

Following his arrest, Alexander was released on his own recognizance to a responsible person and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday, April 11.
